After picking you up early from your hotel or the airport in Fes, the tour heads south through Imouzzer and on to Ifrane, famous for its cool climate and Alpine-style homes. Next, you’ll stroll through the cedar forest, home to Barbary macaques — you can even feed them. Lunch follows in Midelt, and then you continue towards the Sahara, crossing Tizi-n-Tilghmt Pass and driving along the Ziz River. By afternoon, you’ll arrive in Merzouga where you transfer to camels for a trek in the dunes. As the sun sets from high on a dune, you’ll continue to your luxury desert camp for dinner, Berber music, campfire dancing, and a night under the stars.
Wake up early to catch the desert sunrise, then have breakfast before returning by camel to Merzouga. The day is spent exploring the Merzouga area: off-road to an old eyeliner mine, tea and a visit with nomad families in their handmade tents, and a stop in Khamlia village to enjoy Gnaoua music and dance. After lunch in a local spot, stroll through palm groves and visit the wild Merzouga Lake, also called the Flamingo Lake. You’ll spend the night in a hotel.
After breakfast, leave the desert behind for Rissani, the old capital of Tafilalet and home to a bustling market, especially lively on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Next is Erfoud, known for its fossil workshops. Then you’ll pass Touroug and Tinjdad’s palm groves before reaching Todra Gorges. The Todra River carved these dramatic canyons lined with red cliffs—a favorite haunt for rock climbers. Enjoy a walk in the gorges and a relaxed lunch. Later, travel through Boumalne Dades to the Dades Valley, stopping for photos at the famous “monkey fingers” rocks and taking in the view from the mountaintop. Dinner and a night in a local hotel.
On the last day, the drive continues to Kalaa Magouna in Rose Valley, famous for its annual Rose Festival in May with plenty of local products. Pass through the palm groves of Skoura, then arrive at Ouarzazate, known as the gate to the desert and a hub for film studios. Visit the historic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featured in movies like Gladiator and series like Game of Thrones. Head for Marrakech through the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass in the High Atlas, stopping for lunch and photos along the way. The tour ends in Marrakech with drop-off at your hotel or the airport.

This trip was amazing, with beautiful scenery everywhere. The team takes great care of you and makes each stop interesting. Ahmed was an excellent guide and the organization was perfect. Watching the sunset and sunrise from the dunes was unforgettable, and the hotels were great. Highly recommended!

Up Morocco Tours made communication easy before the trip, and Ahmed, our driver, went above and beyond. He was fun, helpful, and made sure we had every experience we wanted, including trying fresh camel’s milk. We chose the 4-day tour to spend an extra night in the Sahara, which was the best part—especially the camel ride and desert camp.
