Your 9-day journey begins with an airport or hotel pick-up. Casablanca is Morocco’s largest and main economic city. Visit the Hassan II Mosque, the biggest mosque in Morocco and a landmark by the Atlantic Ocean. Take some free time for lunch before visiting the lively Corniche, Rick’s Café, and Mohamed V Square. Based on when you arrive, some visits may move to the next morning. Spend the night in a comfortable hotel. 

After breakfast, drive along the coast to Rabat, the country’s capital and one of its four imperial cities. Visit the Hassan Tower, Mohammed V Mausoleum, and the Oudaya Kasbah. After lunch, head north past Ouazzane and into the Rif Mountains to reach Chefchaouen, famous for its blue-painted alleys and buildings. Enjoy an overnight stay at a traditional riad

Enjoy breakfast, then take a relaxed stroll through Chefchaouen’s striking blue lanes. Next, travel to Volubilis, a well-preserved Roman site recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage spot, scattered with ancient mosaics and columns. Move on to Meknes, another imperial city known as the Ismaili capital. Key stops include Bab Al-Mansour, Sahrij Souani, Royal Stables, the granary, and Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Journey onward to Fes and rest overnight at a riad. 

Start your day in Fes, known for its deep heritage and religious life. With a local guide, see the Royal Palace gate, explore the Jewish quarter (Mellah), and enjoy a panoramic view from an old fortress. Enter the UNESCO-listed Medina through Bab Boujloud, and walk past highlights like Bouanania Madrasa, Najjarine Fountain, the famous tanneries, and the Quaraouin Mosque and university, one of the oldest in the world. Meet your driver later and return to your riad. Enjoy your afternoon at leisure.

After breakfast, head south through Imouzzer to Ifrane, nicknamed Morocco’s Switzerland for its cool temperatures and chalet-style houses. Continue to the cedar forest, home to playful Barbary macaques. Feed them or watch them roam. Journey on to Midelt for lunch. Cross the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass, take in views along the Ziz Valley, and reach Merzouga by late afternoon. Trade your vehicle for camels and enter the dunes at sunset. Stay overnight in a desert camp, where you’ll experience Berber music, dance by the fire, and gaze at the starry night sky. 

Leave the dunes after breakfast and visit Rissani, the old capital of Tafilalet, known for its lively market on certain days. Visit a fossil workshop in Erfoud, then pass through palm groves en route to the dramatic Todra Gorges, a favorite spot for rock climbers. Explore the canyon, then travel on to Dades Valley through Boumalne Dades. Stop at the famous “monkey fingers” rock formations, then dine and spend the night at a hotel.

After breakfast, drive to the Rose Valley in Kalaa Magouna, known for its annual May festival and rose products. Travel through the palm groves of Skoura before reaching Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert and home of the famous Atlas Studios. Visit the storied Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO-listed site featured in many movies and TV series. Climb up for a view before continuing to Marrakech, passing through the Tizi-N-Tichka pass in the High Atlas Mountains. Stop for photos and lunch along the way. Rest overnight in a Marrakech riad. 

After breakfast, explore Marrakech’s top sights with a local guide. Visit the Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, and Ben Youssef Mosque. Wander through the largest traditional market in Morocco. After lunch near Jemaa El-Fna, visit the Koutoubia Mosque and the Majorelle Garden. Transfer back to your accommodation or walk around Jemaa El-Fna for the evening.

Depending on your flight schedule, you may have free time in Marrakech before heading north to Casablanca’s airport. The tour can also end in Marrakech, and changes or extensions are possible.
